K-9 Unit

 


The Tazewell County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit has three K-9 teams consisting of one Tracking team, one Illicit Substances team, and Explosive Detection team.

The Illicit substances teams were created to be not only reactive to certain needs within the county but more importantly as a proactive unit. The Illicit substances K-9 team's main focus is drug interdiction which includes but is not limited to highways, neighborhoods and school drug interdiction throughout Tazewell County. Illicit substances K-9 handler is Cpl. Tim Carol.

The Tracking team is utilized in missing person locating, suspect locating and apprehensions throughout Tazewell County.  Tracking K-9 handler is Deputy Kevin Crisp.

The Explosive Detection team is utilized in detecting and locating explosive substances throughout Tazewell County.  Explosive Detection handler is DAVID Akers.
