The Tazewell County Sheriff's Office is an equal

Deputy Sheriff's in accordance with procedures developed by the Tazewell
County Sheriff's Office and the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional
Standards Commission. The selection for employment as a Tazewell County
Deputy Sheriff is highly competitive and the Sheriff's Office will only
employ the best qualified candidates available. Previous experience
and/or a higher education is desired, but not required. Officers and
employees of the Sheriff’s Office will be expected to undergo a variety
of training courses and work in various positions. These may include Law
Enforcement Basic School, Courtroom Security Training, School Resource
Office School, Communications Training, and specialized training such as
Drug Detection, DARE Instruction, Negotiation, K-9 Training and more.
