Courthouse Security

Supervisor - Sgt. Joan Sargent

The security of the courthouse is the responsibility of the Sheriff.

In Tazewell County, there are two full-time and three part-time officers who are designated as Courthouse Security. Operations of screening stations at the two public entrances of the courthouse began in October 2006.

The screening stations consist of walk-through metal detectors, cabinet x-ray machines for parcels and packages and at least one officer per station. Posted at each entrance is the sign proclaiming “Weapons of Any Kind Prohibited”, which includes but is not limited to pocket knives.
